Approved measure and closed deadline
Update of 5 October 2026. Extraordinary regularisation was approved by Royal Decree 316/2026 of 14 April, published on 15 April. Its application deadline ended on 30 June 2026. This article does not announce a reopened window.
Routes and conditions
The reform established exceptional routes for certain international-protection applicants and other foreign nationals present in Spain before 1 January 2026. Requirements differ. For extraordinary arraigo for other applicants, five months of continuous presence means the period immediately before applying, not five months accumulated before 31 December 2025. Check criminal records, administrative status and required work, family or vulnerability circumstances.
Documents
Identification, presence evidence, records and any family or vulnerability documents must match the route. Translation and legalisation depend on documents and applicable rules. Police records do not automatically amount to a criminal conviction.
Cases and alternatives
If you applied, keep the receipt and review notices and requests to correct deficiencies. Provisional permission to reside and work is linked to the communication that processing has begun and must be checked in each file. If you missed the deadline, other permits or arraigo routes must be assessed. Late extraordinary admission cannot be promised without a legal basis.
